POLLEN
The preparation for this show was a source of great joy for me as an artist. Because of it's first location at InBio, a purified pollen manufacturer in Charlottesville, Virginia, I became interested in pollen and the many modes of interaction between plants and humans, including allergy. I spent many hours researching plant reproduction. I walked and kayaked miles to find plants as they were flowering. I began to see trees as individuals. I took hundreds of photos to document.
I then did post-photo processing to magnify parts of interest and to develop a painting composition that would be engaging to a viewer. Images were transferred, using a number of techniques, to a surface, usually a gessoed canvas. The canvases are supported by masonite and a stretcher/frame. The medium to produce the final image is oil paint.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my joy and wonder with you.
Keep walking toward The Happiness.
