Linda Staiger began working life as a surgeon. But now, making art is a calling - to share images that foster peace and love of nature.
Since 2003, she has been training as a visual artist with formal education, medication (that should be meditation), gardening, quilt-making, furniture-making, and lots of kayaking.
Of her process, she says:
I go out into nature on my boat or hiking, hoping to find tranquility and to quiet my mind from my stressed of life. The rivers are awesomely beautiful. I paint plein air and also use photographs for reference. I try to paint the feeling of being out there in the beauty. I may fail. But I keep trying. I try again, starting with the boat on the river or the mountain.
